OUr  Story
Family-Owned. Reef Connected. Island Built.
Born from a lifelong connection to the sea, And a De Wata Tours was built on local knowledge, family values, and a passion for sharing the beauty of Belize with others.
From Lobster Fisherman To Reef Guide
Captain Art
Growing up on Caye Caulker, the sea was always a part of Captain Art’s life. Before tourism became what it is today, he spent years working as a lobster fisherman and learning the waters surrounding the Belize Barrier Reef firsthand.

In 1999, Art transitioned into guiding, sharing the reef, marine life, and island culture with visitors from around the world. What started as a small operation underneath the family home slowly grew into what is now And a De Wata Tours — a locally owned family business built through hard work, local knowledge, and genuine island hospitality.

Today, Captain Art continues to guide guests through the same waters he grew up exploring as a child.

The Heart Behind The Scenes
Meet Kat
Originally from Los Angeles, Kat eventually found her way to the laid-back island life of Caye Caulker where she became part of the And a De Wata family. While Captain Art leads adventures on the water, Kat helps keep everything running behind the scenes while welcoming guests from around the world.
Together, they’ve built And a De Wata Tours around authentic experiences, local hospitality, and a genuine love for Belize and the reef.
FAMILY & ISLAND LIFE

Growing Up By The Sea
Life in Caye Caulker revolves around the ocean, family, and community. From time to time, guests may even spot Mateo helping alongside his dad on the boat while learning the traditions and knowledge of the sea growing up on the island.
For our family, sharing Belize is more than a job — it’s part of who we are.

PROTECTING THE REEF
Respecting the waters we call home
The Belize Barrier Reef is more than just a beautiful destination — it’s home. As guides who spend every day on the water, protecting the reef and marine life for future generations is deeply important to us.
Captain Art is also certified in coral restoration through work with Fragments of Hope, supporting efforts to help preserve and restore Belize’s reef ecosystems through sustainable tourism and conservation awareness.
